Abstract: In this study, it was aimed at making teaching more entertaining in social studies lessons, which can be boring for some students due to being verbal lessonswith a high probability of forgotten later on; possible responsible from their own learning and helping them make inferences about seeing whattheir deficiencies are how they learn better. line with aim, applications involve metacognition strategies lessons were used. is based on using strategies, experimental design pretest-posttest control groupmethod, one the quantitative research methods, The study group consists 6th grade who received education two different classes state middle-school spring semester 2013-2014 academic year. selection group, convenience sampling method preferred. There 37 experiment 35 groupof study. As collection data “Metacognition Awareness Scale Children,” whose adaptation Turkish done by Karakelle Saraç (2007) “Evaluation Questionnaire Use Metacognition Strategies” developed Aktürk (2010) evaluated SPSS statistics program. result analyses, concluded view findings that use increase students’ awareness efficiency these strategies.
